Experience
In 2010 I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Ph.D. degree in Religious Studies. My earlier degrees include Master of Arts in Religious Studies (2006, also from the University of Calgary) and Bachelor of Education (1994, Pyatigorsk Linguistic University, Russia). My doctoral work was devoted to a case study of an immigrant religious community in Manitoba. While at University of Calgary, I taught classes of general interest (Western Religions, Modern Christianity) as a sessional instructor for two years, in addition to 5-6 years of work as a teaching assistant/research assistant at the Arizona State University and U of Calgary, and about 4 years of combined experience teaching ESL in South America. As a beginning lecturer, I took two training courses offered by the U of Calgary, an Instructional Skills Workshop, and a semester-long University Teaching Certificate Program. Both included computer study tools as part of the course. Last, but not least, I have a passion for teaching. I taught courses in Comparative and Modern Religion at the University of Calgary and enjoyed it immensely. Student evaluations of my teaching were always overwhelmingly positive.
